Ulf Kleppe
The outdoors has always been a big draw for Ulf. Whether going for hikes, cross-country skiing or participating in organized sports outside is where one should be! Camping and canoeing was a big part of summer vacations when growing up and, more recently, he has delved into flat water canoe racing and competitive rowing. But it's during those quiet moments out on the lake, either solo or with a partner, that are unforgettable.
"There is nothing like being on the water first thing in the morning. The water is so calm and then when the loon beside you dives, swims under you and surfaces just off your bow...priceless!"
Teaching at some level has always been who Ulf is, almost to the chagrin of those around him. Being very detail oriented when it comes to "execution" of the stroke, stride, timing, rhythm of whatever the sport is, he can't but want to "help" when he sees someone who just isn't getting it. This lead to a career in teaching where he is firmly entrenched at the moment and loving it! His formal education includes an Honours Degree in Physical and Health Education from Laurentian University, a BEd from Nipissing University, ORCKA Certifications; Basic Canoeing Instructor, Canoe Tripping 3 Leader, Canadian Style Paddling Level 1, Moving Water Level 1A, Swift Water Technician Level 1, First Aid & CPR.
