Sylvain Ducharme

The outdoors has always been part of Sylvain's life. As a child growing up in a small Northern Ontario village the forest and its' secrets were always just beyond the front door. The pleasure of being with nature grew into a deep respect for wild places and a need to preserve them and their spirit. "As a canoeist, I am privileged to see first hand the enchanting beauty of nature. I am always in awe at its' fragile balance and the important role we play in this equilibrium."

Sylvain's passion and knowledge are shared through his various endeavours with high schools, colleges, universities, Scouts & Guides troops and the public at large. Over 20 years of canoeing, teaching, instructing, volunteering and sharing experiences has cemented his belief that awareness through education is the key to proper management and care for our wild places.

A 20 year veteran of the teaching profession Sylvain's technical qualifications include: Honours Degree in Physical and Health Education from Laurentian University, ORCKA Director in Basic Canoeing, Canoe Tripping Instructor 2, Canadian Style Paddling Instructor 2 and River Running Instructor 2, GPS National Instructor, Swift Water River Instructor and holds certification in Wilderness First Aid CPR C, AED.
